Ch.. Ch.. Changes!!

17 August 2024

“If it ain’t broke…. Break it!” – Willie Nelson

Actually I can’t prove Willie said that, but I like to think he did.

There’s some changes afoot in my work in the Hastings Scene!

The Shop is back!

After some necessary upgrades to the building, Mike’s – St. Leonard’s is back in action this weekend. Not only is the shop safer for all, you may notice some changes to the interior design, acoustic treatment, and the seating layout. I’ll be doing a proper blog post once the place has been finished completely, but suffice to say, I’m very happy with the results. Big thanks to Tony King for helping me manage the project and to all of those who bought credits and made donations. Couldn’t have done it without you.

I’ll be opening each evening this coming Friday thru Sunday to celebrate the reopening. We will have “Pete the Barman“ on hand to serve gorgeous premium cocktails, wine and beer alongside some groovy music performances!

You can take your chances on the evening but it may be wise to make a reservation!

Brand-Spanking-New-Music!

I am at the final stage of pressing my next record, “Sunday Flying.” This will be my first time pressing a vinyl record and my first new music release in over 10 years.

Me and my faithful collaborators cut the songs “live to 2” over two days in my shop. The band really found a groove during this session and the songs really speak to where I am in my journey as an artist, band leader, father and adventurer.

The release show will be on October 30th (my 44th birthday!) and will feature the band and some special guest performances.

You can listen to Side A of the album and preorder a digital or vinyl copy of the album which will help me cover the manufacturing costs.

What’s the 411?

You may have noticed as of this morning, the WhatsApp group name has been changed to “

“The 411” Don’t panic! The approach will remain basically the same.

If you were too lazy to look in the phone book in 1990’s USA, you could dial 4-1-1 and a friendly operator would look in their computer and pass along the info. Think of me as your very own Friendly Operator… passing along the grooviest happenings in town!

I’ll be posting links etc for events and opportunities I’m excited about in Hastings. Mike’s List will continue but a bit more under the radar with personalised offers to my true blue music loving regulars.

More on that soon!
