Fliss Gorst brings a bold new collaboration with Grounded Movement to Hastings Jazz Fest — having sold out Upstairs @ Ronnie Scotts on many occasions this is sure to be one of the Jazz Fest highlights. Grounded Movement, led by Temujin Gill will lead a short Jazz/Lindy Hop workshop to get you swinging to the sound of the live band! Prepare for a good time- even if you’ve never danced before these guys will get you up on your feet and feeling great! 

Blending deep groove, expressive interplay and adventurous composition, this collaboration captures the spirit of a younger UK jazz scene unconcerned with boundaries or genre expectations.

Artist Bio

The Fliss Gorst Band long known for energetic sets and a big tenor saxophone sound is joined by a stellar line up of musicians including Canadian jazz vocalist Lauren Bush whose ‘Unique phrasing, perfect diction and scatting’ are hailed by Downbeat Magazine, alongside trumpeter Dave Boraston, drummer Pete Ibbetson and bassist Simon Thorpe. 
 
Grounded Movement specialises in social and street-derived dances – drawing on a rich blend of forms including Lindy Hop, Tap, Soul and Funk. This innovative groupd has choreographed and performed in the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, Ray Davies’ Meltdown Festival at the Royal Festival Hall, and the sell-out Harlem Renaissance production at Greenwich Dance’s The Supper Room.
